IN KENTUCKY, WHAT is the law in regard to home owners insurance?
May 21, 2007 by AAF88 | Posted in Insurance
I was told that your insurance will drop you if you dont have a foundation, i.e, a basement on your home, how true is this statement?
Not exactly true. They cancel you for misrepresentation if you don't have a foundation (basement or slab). The application you fill out, asks about the foundation. If you say, no foundation, they won't write the policy. If you say foundation, you've lied, and they cancel you for that.
The problem is, if you have no true foundation for your "home", it's not really a home - it's a trailer. Sure you live there, but it's a depreciating structure, NOT a true house. Trailers don't qualify for homeowners policies - you need a trailer policy.

wandalacy1, Home insurance is actually very flexible. I'm not sure about Kentucky laws and regulations, so I recommend you visit a nearby home insurance agent. http://www.usinsuranceadvisor.com/Home-Insurance.html They should be able to assist you.

Started insurance agency in Kentucky - need ideas...?
Jan 26, 2008 by xcccyk | Posted in Insurance
I opened an independent insurance agency in Kentucky recently. I hired a licensed producer to help me solicit auto, home & life insurance. I also hired a tele-marketer to call leads for new business.
With a limited budget, how could I attract more people to call us for free insurance quotes? We represent the biggest and best insurance companies for auto, home and life insurance.
Our rates are crazy-competitive for Kentucky residents...we just need to find a way (despite the cold weather) to get people to call or email us for free quotes.
We are legally able to quote insurance for any resident in Kentucky. We will have a website up and running in the next few months...as soon as we find someone to help us create a solid site.
As for advertising, we haven't started any system yet. We know our stuff when it comes to insurance...just need ideas to grow our client base quickly.
Thanks for any ideas...
There's a pretty good book out there about marketing (in general) titled "Guerilla Marketing" by Jay Conrad Levinson or How to Drive Your Competition Crazy by Guy Kawasaki.
Both are pretty good and give you some pretty good ideas.
Call 1-800-WEINSURE. Ask for Patrick or Dick and tell them you want to check on their program. Pretty slick and it WILL make your phone ring.
Next - network. Join the Chamber, get out and about and everyone gets a business card.
Try your local "want ad papers" like Thrifty Nickel or whatever. Run some ads in "the readers" - not display ads. CHEAP CAR INSURANCE and your phone number.
Join your agent association in your area - either PIA or Big I and go to conventions or insurance Expos. Even go to events in other States. I have been going to the Insurance Expo in Atlanta for the past 10-12 years and ALWAYS come back with SOMETHING!
Give everyone of your customers several of your cards. Write THEIR name on the back and have them give them to their friends and have their friends come to your office for for quotes. When they come in with the card, put the card in a box and every quarter, give away a color TV or something nice. Take pictures of you giving the winner the remote control, hang the picture somewhere prominent and do the same thing over again.
I could go on and on - so, email me direct and I can do what I can to give yo usome more pointers.

Call for ethics targets Stumbo - Kentucky.com
09.01.09
"This is a great opportunity for Greg to show us that his progressive side can overrule the financial interests he has with some of these companies that want things from him," said Richard Beliles, chairman of the non-profit Common Cause Kentucky. During his stint as the Democrats' House majority leader, from 1985 to 2003, Stumbo was criticized for using his Frankfort office to benefit financially back home in Prestonsburg. For example, Stumbo — an attorney by trade — fought new restrictions on workers' compensation claims while his small law firm made more than $1 million a year from workers' comp cases. Stumbo also used state funds to build StoneCrest, a Prestonsburg golf course. Then he privately developed and sold several houses around the course, calling it his contribution to local economic development. In a statement his office issued Thursday, Stumbo said he always obeys Kentucky's conflict-of-interest law for politicians.
