i need help. have depression and no medical insurance, where do i turn?
Dec 24, 2008 by not quite sure | Posted in Mental Health
i need to go to some sort of doctor to confirm that i have depression and find some sort of treatment (therapy, meds, anything). i have no health/medical insurance of any kind. i am pretty sure i have depression b/c i constantly think of how to kill myself, i have written out the note several times and i no longer enjoy any of the things i have always loved to do. i live in kentucky and need to find someone to help, i've tried the suicide hotline, but that makes me feel even worse because i feel like the person on the other end is silently laughing at me(even though they most likely are not)
after seeing the first 3 posts i feel it is important to let you know a few more facts. talking to my friends about this make me want to kill myself more cause i feel like an idiot, and i smile all the time because i want to be happy i just cant. also i am not religious, i am an atheist(that has nothing to do with my sadness, i have been atheist since i was 7). i did talk to a pastor just for some general help about this and all he told me was to find jesus christ. oh and to the gun comment, i already own plenty of guns with which to blow my head off with, thanks for the encouragement.
every state has medicaid for adults and children, low income call your local dept of social service's get medicaid and get to a doctor who can refer you to mental health professional;s. the co-pay is like 3 dollar's good luck hang in there smile's jamie

The Kentucky minimum auto insurance is $25,000 per person, per accident...?
Jun 29, 2007 by lucas_dunaway | Posted in Insurance & Registration
The Kentucky minimum auto insurance is $25,000 per person. If I have been in an accident, and have $9000. medical bills, can the maximum settlement I get for pain and suffering be $16000? For a sum total $25,000? Is this how it works, or do they reinburse my insurance co the $9000, then have the 25K to work with pain and suffering?
No doubt the easiest way to get insurance quotes is on the web.
Why would you waste your time on the phone calling around?
the last time i needed quotes on insurance i used one of these comparison sites and it was great.
this is the site i used and it was quick like less than 5 mins.
The last thing I want to do is listen to elevator music while waiting for a salesman.
Anyway I got good quotes and ended up saving money so I was happy.
So shop around and compare quotes which is easy on the net.
Good starting point is at this site.

Good luck.

Can a Family Medical Doctor Diagnose ADD/ADHD in the state of Kentucky?
Jul 31, 2008 by Jess_B:) | Posted in Mental Health
I've been struggling for sometime with focus, but haven't been to any doctor b/c I do not have insurance. I had to make an appointment at my family MD to get some lab work done, and thought I could maybe kill 2 birds with one stone and talk to her about it. But if she thinks I may have a problem with it and cannot diagnose and prescribe, there's no way I could afford a psychiatrist.
Yes, a family MD (in any state) can, if he/she so chooses, diagnose and treat ADD/ADHD. They may, however, refer you to a specialist.
Best of luck to you,
~M~

Families can't afford COBRA - Cincinnati.com
10.01.09
Add in the cost of food and housing, and most families can't afford COBRA coverage, which lets laid-off workers keep employer-sponsored health insurance if they pay the full cost, said Ron Pollack, executive director of Families USA. The Washington, D.C., advocacy group released the report Friday. In Ohio, the cost of COBRA coverage for a family eats up more than 77 percent of the average $1,327 monthly unemployment benefit, according to the report. "How can a family in Ohio afford to pay more than three-quarters of their unemployment check for insurance when they still have to pay for rent and food and other necessities?" Pollack asked. Nationally, only about a fifth of workers who qualify for COBRA coverage take advantage of it because of the high cost, he said. In Kentucky, that coverage takes up just over 70 percent of a worker's unemployment check, and in Indiana, COBRA coverage eats up more than 83 percent of jobless benefits. Families in Alaska face the biggest squeeze, the report found. The state's average monthly unemployment benefit is $869, but the average monthly cost for COBRA coverage for a family is $1,145 - 131.7 percent of that unemployment check.
