What is a good insurance company for my motorcycle in Boston?

I have a motorcycle that I have to register in Boston.. problem is that I need to get it insured first. I know that theres a fixed insurance rate in Massachusetts so many insurance companies don't do business in the state... does anyone know a decent company around the area?

I also wanted to know how much I would end up paying for the minimal insurance package... a few people have mentioned it coming up to around $200 a year, does that sound about right?

The Premier Ins Co. insures motorcycles in MA. I know, I have them for my bikes. Your premium depends on your riding experience and the bike itself. The more time you have been riding the less the premium. As well as if it's a new bike or old. You need to contact a local insurance agent to get that info.

Guidance needed for starting/purchasing an Insurance Agency in Massachusetts?

I am an insurance agent with prior experience in insurance. I would like to get into a business of my own by starting an insurance agency. My first choice would be to buy an established agency which is up for sale. However I am not able to find many for sale in MA itself.

Can someone advise me on where to find agencies for sale?

How can I find and contact the brokers who deal with such sales?

For those in this business already, can you please share the wisdom and pitfalls of this business? Is it worth it? What is the future market outlook? Earning possibilites?

If I were to start on my own - what licences and clearances would I need? and from where?

I understand that all of this information may not be available with one person but I will be greatfull for any of your contribution.

I am especially eager to hear back from existing insurance agency owners throughout the country.

car insurance question?

I bought my car on Aug 25 2008. But the policy period on my new policy is from Aug 2 2008 to Aug 2 2009.


How can they cover me before I bought my car. Is Safety Insurance of Massachusetts always do business in this sneaky way?

Insurance companies cannot charge you for coverage before you needed it. If they say "they have to to that" it is nothing more than a bunch of B.S. I hope this is nothing more than a simple mistake. Bring it to the agency's attention, if they wont do anything, then call the corporate office, if they wont do anything, then contact your state insurance commissioner,

Obama Plan for Government Insurance Draws Criticism

Jan. 8 (Bloomberg) -- President-elect Barack Obama’s plan to have new government health insurance compete with private coverage drew Republican fire at a nomination hearing for Thomas A. Daschle to run the Health and Human Services Department.

“Any new insurance coverage must be delivered through private insurance plans,” said Senator Michael B. Enzi , Republican of Wyoming and his party’s ranking member on the Health committee, in prepared comments for the hearing, the panel’s first session of the year.

Enzi was taking on a proposal by Obama to help reduce the number of uninsured by making available a version of Medicare, the government insurance for the elderly. Daschle preached the need for consensus in his remarks, telling lawmakers he was “determined to work with each of you” to change a system that costs $2.6 trillion a year and leaves 45 million people without health insurance.

“We need input and involvement and engagement,” Daschle told Enzi in response to a question about moving health-care changes through Congress. Daschle didn’t offer specifics of the Obama plan, or argue for its passage.
