My husband is retiring at 62 and is worried about medical coverage and the new Massachusetts law ?

I am looking for answers regarding the new Massachusetts medical insurance law & how it effects someone at 62 that is retiring

Well, assuming you're referring to the law that requires him to carry heatlh insurance, either he'll carry it, or he'll get fined.

About how much is it a month for medical insurance for 1 Healthy Child in Massachusetts?

Basic insurance coverage...? Thanks for any thought. I can't find any instant quote websites for Massachusetts and everyone is closed until Monday.
We are planning on paying for it ourselves. We live in California and our insurance out here does not cover my step daughter who lives in Mass. Her mother does make more than the income guidelines for the state, although we might fall under. We are just going to bite the bullet and pay out of pocket. Her mother said she found insurance fr her for $90 a week, and we have a feeling that its a little high... Thanks for your help tho.

$90 a week is INCREDIBLY high. It should be less than half that.

What is the cost of Medical Malpractice Insurance per year?

If you find a list of the yearly cost of malpractice of every state in the U.S., please copy it onto your answer. If not, please tell me the cost of it yearly in these states:
Pennsylvania
Virginia
West Virginia
Rhode Island
Massachusetts

Thanks!

In each of those states, for a vetrinarian, it's about $250 a year.

For all the others, it will depend on: which hospitals they have admitting priveleges to, the retroactive date on the policy, the limit of coverage, the type of medicine practiced, the type of procedures they do, the number of hours worked, the proximity to major city hospitals, How long they've practiced medicine, the prior claims history, and I'm probably forgetting a few other things. It can be anywhere from $500 for new dentists, to six figures for obstetricians and cardiac surgeons.

5 Steps to Take for Holding on to Your Insurance Coverage

1. COBRA. While this may be the most expensive option, it's a good one for someone with a pre-existing medical condition. For people recently laid off, the first, immediate option to review is COBRA coverage. COBRA is required of businesses with 20 or more employees. It provides continuation of group health coverage that otherwise might be terminated. One common myth about COBRA coverage is that it is only good for 18 months, but quite often this is not the case as it can be continued indefinitely through state COBRA programs. First steps include checking with the employer's human resources department to receive complete information on how to qualify for COBRA, the costs and how to apply. If COBRA is an option, it should be carefully reviewed before being refused as once it's dismissed, it can't be recalled.

2. Going from a double- to a single-income family. For the family in a two-income home where one parent has been laid off, checking into programs like Healthy Families is an important step. In many states, a family of 4 can make up to $60,000 (California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Vermont, Washington, D.C.) and in other states up to $50,000 a year (Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, New Mexico, New York, Washington) and still qualify the children for comprehensive coverage. These programs may provide low-cost health coverage for children and teens up to age 19 including comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage. Moving the family's young dependents from private insurance to government sponsored plans can reduce monthly premiums and perhaps make a family's adult private premium coverage affordable.
