Can we buy insurance( auto, home, and health) from Mexico or China?

Now that so many people have lost their manufacturing jobs, maybe they could save money, by getting insurance through those low wage countries.
What I'm trying to say people is:
Having many of our goods manufactured in other countries has greatly reduced the cost of such goods.
With that logic in mind, why can't we do the same thing with the insurance industries? Sure it would put thousands upon thousands out of work, but the end result would be cheaper premiums, that maybe the un-employed factory worker could afford. (I'm trying to show you how the people against buying American made products, could themselves find that one day they might not have a job due to free trade)
I don't, well let's say we don't understand each other.
When I buy a product from China, Mexico, or any other nation, I pay with American dollars.
I'm saying that there are other parts of the world that pay lower wages. that would reduce thye cost of the insurance, right?I wonder how many folks in the insurance industry give a rats *** that good manufacturing jobs are going to other countries in the name of free trade. Why not level the playing field and make absolutely everything open to free trade? ARGHHHHHHH!

No, the American insurance companies don't want that and control your politicians. On this issue where the "free" market could actually benefit ordinary citizens you'll not find any of the usual defenders demanding an open market.

Are cars insured or people? I am 22 and live in Mexico, but am home occasionally in the US and want to drive?

My parents already insure the car I drive, do i need to be paying to keep my name on their insurance on can i just drive their car and cancel my own insurance, the car would continue to be insured. Also, is it bad to cancel insurance? I plan on being out of the country for another 18 months or so when I would reacquire car insurance at the age of 24. Please let me know. Thanks!

I varies by state. If you live in New Jersey and you carry a drivers liscence, you need insurance. You may drop coverage without consequences as long as when you return to the US you get insurance to drive again, at that time your parents will need to add your name back on thier policy, or you can get your own insurance. Insurance premiums are calculated using both the driver and the vehicle(s) on the policy.

You will need insurance to drive in another country, from within the country you will be driving in.

5 Steps to Take for Holding on to Your Insurance Coverage

1. COBRA. While this may be the most expensive option, it's a good one for someone with a pre-existing medical condition. For people recently laid off, the first, immediate option to review is COBRA coverage. COBRA is required of businesses with 20 or more employees. It provides continuation of group health coverage that otherwise might be terminated. One common myth about COBRA coverage is that it is only good for 18 months, but quite often this is not the case as it can be continued indefinitely through state COBRA programs. First steps include checking with the employer's human resources department to receive complete information on how to qualify for COBRA, the costs and how to apply. If COBRA is an option, it should be carefully reviewed before being refused as once it's dismissed, it can't be recalled.

2. Going from a double- to a single-income family. For the family in a two-income home where one parent has been laid off, checking into programs like Healthy Families is an important step. In many states, a family of 4 can make up to $60,000 (California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Vermont, Washington, D.C.) and in other states up to $50,000 a year (Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, New Mexico, New York, Washington) and still qualify the children for comprehensive coverage. These programs may provide low-cost health coverage for children and teens up to age 19 including comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage. Moving the family's young dependents from private insurance to government sponsored plans can reduce monthly premiums and perhaps make a family's adult private premium coverage affordable.
