What are typical home insurance prices in the new york city area?

I am interesting in buying a condo in brooklyn and i want to know what kind of prices i should expect for homeowners insurance.

There are many type of insurance, that you can purchase for your home. Insurance against natural disasters, insuring the contents of your home, insuring against damages, such as a damage plumbing pipe, that might damage other parts of your house, which actually happened to me, etc. The best thing for you is to shop around your local insurance agency.

-How much covrage do you want on your house
-Do you want the content of your hosue to be insured?
-How much liabilty you want your insurance to cover:

-How much Deductable are you willing to pay?

Puhleeeeeze, don't tell me Haliburton won the 'contract' to supply terrorist insurance too.

does New york State or city have insurance for adults and/or children?

My 9 yr old son and I are moving to New York City form Pennsylvania. I have insurance provided by a state program. Does New york have something simular like CHIP for kids and something for working adults? If not, how are the health centers there, i'm sure they have those. I work from home and have stomach issues, my son is asthmatic.
EVERY state has a Childrens Health Insurance Program. Many do NOT have anything for working adults - unless you earn little enough to qualify for Medicaid, or are pregnant.

Jan. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Victims of Bernard Madoff ’s alleged
$50 billion Ponzi scheme may have access to as little as
$1 billion in assets to satisfy their claims, based on the value
of his defunct brokerage, real estate, boats, jewelry and other
property identified so far by liquidators and investigators. Federal investigators said yesterday they found 100 Madoff-
signed checks totaling $173 million in the investment adviser’s
desk, ready for mailing. The trustee liquidating Madoff’s
brokerage said he had located $830 million in “liquid assets”
at the firm to meet claims. The brokerage itself may fetch
$40 million in a sale “at best,” estimated Larry Tabb , founder
of TABB Group, a financial-market research and advisory firm. Investors caught in a massive fraud often incur large
losses. Creditors of bankrupt Enron Corp., which hid billions of
dollars in debt in off-the-books entities, received 36 cents on
the dollar as of January 2008. “Depending on the solvency of the persons sued, recoveries
will probably be in the range of 10 percent to 50 percent of the
amounts for which the persons are liable,” said Lynn LoPucki ,
who teaches bankruptcy law at the University of California at
Los Angeles.
