I am planning to go to New York next month. do I need to take travel insurance.? How do I choose the right one

Yeah I am travelling for the first time to US from New Zealand. Its a 5 week trip ... I am not rich and don't have much to fall back on...so am anxious about the trip.... if I fall sick, if I miss a flight etc.

I agree with the first person. Why are you asking about travel insurance? Are you coming from another country and you think something might happen to cancel your trip? A lot of times travel insurance is just a rip-off, but there are definitely times when you might want to get it especially if you have a considerable amount of money invested in your trip and could get a portion back if something happens. Just make sure to read the fine print to make sure you know exactly what the terms and conditions are.

How can I cheaply travel between Montreal and New York?

I have two weeks - flying in to Montreal from the UK, then back from New York. We ideally want a road trip so we can explore places slightly off the beaten track (we want to go via thousand islands for example). Car hire between the two is really expensive though... Does anyone have any suggestions for cheap ways of travelling around, cheap car insurance, any other novel ideas, etc? Thanks

Your looking at a long drive across NY state... gas prices are high.. have you looked into bus travel? you can get on and off so its not just one long ass ride....the only other option i can think of is to look into teleportation, which may be very expensive and/or not invented yet

Where Can I get travel insurance to go to France?

Every sick insurance company offers travel sick insurance.

Just tell them that you need a travel sick insurance for 15 days covering at least $45,000 to include hospital stay and emergency repatriation flights valid for Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

The Bumpy Road Ahead - Washington Post

Want a measure of how dramatically travel has slowed in recent months? U.S. carriers have cut so much domestic passenger capacity since Labor Day that an airline the size of Northwest, the nation's fifth-largest, has effectively disappeared. But still there are empty seats and fares are falling. That trend will continue in 2009. The big change this year will be internationally. After several years of switching capacity to overseas routes, U.S. and international carriers will be forced to retrench. It's already happening, in fact. Virtually all of the new service originally planned for China in 2009 has been delayed. And on December 23 Delta Air Lines -- which has grown its international operation to 50 percent of its capacity from just 20 percent three years ago -- canceled a bunch of new 2009 routes that it had announced just two months earlier. Look for sizable cuts in passenger capacity to Europe since most of the new flights in recent years were added over the Atlantic. There will be reductions in service to Latin America, too.
