Are there any companies that will give you a home owner's insurance if you have any medical problems?

My sister and her husband have tried to get home owner's insurance but were turned down. She said they were denied because her husband is a diabetic and she is considered obese because of her weight She may be overweight BUT not obese. They need the insurance in case of one of the other's demise in the future that the home will be paid for. They are purchasing a triple-wide mobile home in North Carolina. Can you please give me the name(s) of insurance companies that will be able to give them home owner insurance in North Carolina.

Thank you all for your assistance in the aforementioned matter.

Ro (Henderson, NC)

First of all, they are not looking for Homeowners Insurance. That is insurance on the house to protect them against fire or other damage to the house. What they are looking for is mortgage life insurance which will pay off if one of them dies. Since they have health problems, the best bet would be to go through the company where they have the mortgage. It will probably be impossible to find a company that will insure them outside of the mortgage company itself. Try that and good luck.

North Carolina Insurance Deductible Law?

Has anyone ever heard of a law in NC that states I would have to pay a deductible on a claim? I have a special policy through my home owners insurance that is supposed to cover the repair or replacement of my personal computers up to $3000 with "no" deductible. Now, I'm trying to file a claim with my insurance company after paying for this policy for over a year, and all of a sudden they are telling me I would have to pay a $500 deductible for each repair because of NC law.

iZZy83, Home insurance covers lots of different things. I'm not familiar with the North Carolina laws and regulations, so I suggest you call a local home insurance agent. http://www.easyhomeinsuranceguide.com/North-Carolina-Home-Insurance.html They will be able to help you.

Homeowner insurance hike for Coastal Carolina residents - WECT-TV6

Reported by Colin Hackman - email

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WECT) - Homeowners insurance is sharply increasing for those who own homes in Coastal Carolina.

Friday, the Wilmington Association of Realtors invited an official with the Department of Insurance to answer questions regarding the hike.

At the last minute, however, the official backed out.  They say they could not speak due to a recent lawsuit brought against the board by Dare County concerning the same increase.

Local elected leaders and real estate professionals used the gathering to develop a way to voice their opinion that the insurance commission is out of line with what the homeowners of Coastal North Carolina are due.

In November 2008 , the state approved a rate hike to bolster what's called "the beach plan."  Premiums in Brunswick, Pender, and New Hanover Counties will be increasing as much as 28%.

"Reportedly the insurance carrier can go up 250 times on your current premium.  Now, is that taxation without representation?" said Brunswick County Commissioner Marty Cooke.  "You sign the form, but basically they had a gun to your head that they were going to bind coverage if not.  You had to sign the form, so did you really get representation?"
