What is the typical home insurance premium for a $90,000 home in Oklahoma City?
Jun 15, 2006 by oky | Posted in Insurance
1500 sq ft, 3 bed, 2 bath, basement, garage. Northwest area or Bethany. We are considering moving there from the west coast of Florida (yes, tornadoes and all) and want to estimate the costs involved. We also would like to know the average cost of power during July and August as well as December and January for a similar sized home. Let's say the home was built in 1960.
Most of the answers so far avoid giving an actual guesstimate and I'm think it is because it might appear I'm speaking of a particular home at a particular location. THERE IS NO ACTUAL HOUSE. This is a rough idea of the TYPE of home we would consider buying. I just wanted ballpark figures for a typical home as I described, in a low to mid crime rate area of similarly priced homes. No waterfront, no pool, no extras that would inflate the premium (such as a fireplace). One thing I know, insurance companies want DETAILS, one of which is an EXACT address. I have no such details because we have not picked out a home yet. For example, here in the west coast of Florida, a $90,000 home (if you could find one) would have premiums of about $1100/yr (nearly 100% higher than 2 years ago) and if you live in a low-lying area you would double that price to pay for mandetory flood insurance. Certainly some brave person who lives in OK has an answer for me.
contact an Independent Insurance Broker for the estimated cost of the insurance premium..check one out from the Yahoo Yellow Pages for the community you want..call the chamber of commerce for a city in the area to find out possible utility costs for the area, or call a Realtor, home broker, for utility and other homeowner costs and details...i lived in Oklahoma City for a while- i was married to an Okie..very nice area, good family atmosphere there..good luck to you

i am trying to figure out how much annually home owners insurance would be for a 200k house in oklahoma thanks

i am just trying to figure out how much per month i am with oklahoma farm bureau; if anyone has any ideas on how to get cheaper homeowners insurance i would really appreciate the help; thanks
OK, you're likely going to have to call an agent and get a real quote. It's going to be HEAVILY based on the cost to rebuild the house (NOT MARKET VALUE!), the location of the house, the age of the house, the construction type of the house, AND YOUR CREDIT SCORE. For budget purposes, figure $200 a month, it should be under that.
But, that's a high guess, and is NOT going to be accurate AT ALL. It could be as low as $30 a month. See? Huge range, too many variables.

Is there any way for me to get treatment for a work injury when worker comp insurance is refusing in Oklahoma?
Jun 10, 2007 by Kelly | Posted in Law & Legal
My boss told CompSource I didn't get hurt at work. She is rallying "witnesses" to say that I did not. These people will lie to keep their job. Meanwhle I am in so much pain and about to loose my home. The doctor I was sent to by her had ordered tests and therapy but the insurance carrier will not authorize anything. I have an attorney. I have no health insurance. As an RN, I think this is flagrant neglect, but I think it may be legal. The attorney says it could take weeks, even months before I will be able to be treated. In the meanwhile, I worry about the potential for more damage since there are only theories about my injuries due to the inability to do further testing. Is this what really happens to an honest, hardworking individual who gets hurt on the job? Is there any recourse I can take? If this is allowed to happen, it is very scarry!

Oklahoma fans are circling the wagons - Sun-Sentinel.com
08.01.09
There are more than 44,000 University of Florida alumni in Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties, according to the UF Alumni Association. There are relatively few University of Oklahoma alumni in the entire state of Florida. "Do you remember the old western movies where they circle the wagons?" jokes Machen, a 1963 University of Oklahoma graduate and a senior partner at Templeton & Co. LLP in Fort Lauderdale. "That's what we're doing." Machen hung an Oklahoma flag outside his home in Boca Raton , but each day, he returns home and the flag is missing. "They have those tacky alligator flags up and down the street that I have to pass, and I have my lonely little OU flag and it keeps disappearing," Machen said. "I think they're hiding it." Machen will be at tonight's game, with some friends who also are Oklahoma alumni. His car will be decorated in OU flags and OU magnets. He's also taken out extra insurance on his car.
