All Aboard! Valentine dinner train expands schedule - Maryville Daily Times
Southern Appalachia Railway Museum, which operates the Secret City Scenic Excursion Train, has expanded its schedule of Valentine dinner trains to six in February.
The classic dinner train will run at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6, at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14 and at 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15.
Passengers will start the trips in the former Southern Railway coach "Fort Oglethorpe", which was built in 1947, and then be ushered into the former Southern Pullman dining car which was built in l927, where they will be greeted by neatly dressed servers and fine china on gleaming white tablecloths. Also, on the tables will be a long-stemmed rose for each of the ladies.
The Valentine dinner trains have become a popular annual tradition for the Museum, whose volunteers have done all of the restoration work on the vintage equipment. Their goal is to make it possible for the public to enjoy the romance
