What is the cost of Medical Malpractice Insurance per year?
Dec 23, 2008 by nhawkman | Posted in Insurance
If you find a list of the yearly cost of malpractice of every state in the U.S., please copy it onto your answer. If not, please tell me the cost of it yearly in these states:
Pennsylvania
Virginia
West Virginia
Rhode Island
Massachusetts
Thanks!
In each of those states, for a vetrinarian, it's about $250 a year.
For all the others, it will depend on: which hospitals they have admitting priveleges to, the retroactive date on the policy, the limit of coverage, the type of medicine practiced, the type of procedures they do, the number of hours worked, the proximity to major city hospitals, How long they've practiced medicine, the prior claims history, and I'm probably forgetting a few other things. It can be anywhere from $500 for new dentists, to six figures for obstetricians and cardiac surgeons.

What are the statues of limitations in the state of Virginia regarding medical bills?
Jul 12, 2007 by Chris O | Posted in Law & Ethics
I have a claim that I refuse to pay and my insurance doesn't want to cover. It is not a "recurring problem" but the insurance company wants to think so in order to not cover. Can someone tell me what the statues of limitations are in order to remove this eventually off of my credit and or to write to my creditors to eventually have removed?
In Virginia, the statute of limitations on collections for an account that is active (still open) is 3 years from the date of the last charge on the account. In order to remove it from your credit, you will have to dispute the charge, you may have to prove that you don't owe it, or you can retain an attorney who can help with your credit on this and let them handle it.

also medical insurance?
claymate14249, I suggest you find a nearby auto insurance agent to help. Since I live in Utah I can't recommend an agent in Virginia, but here is an online resource that can help you. http://www.goodinternetdeals.com/Auto-Insurance.html
Hope it works out

Unemployed squeezed on health insurance
09.01.09
WASHINGTON (AP) — Newly unemployed Americans will have to spend about 30 percent of their jobless benefits on average to pay for health insurance through their former employer, according to a new report. And if they want coverage for their families, the report by Families USA says it will take more than 80 percent of their unemployment check. Unemployment hit a 16-year high last month as another 524,000 jobs were cut. For all of 2008, government says the economy lost a net total of 2.6 million jobs. When workers lose their jobs, they are usually eligible to maintain their health insurance coverage through their old employer if they pay the premiums, plus a 2 percent administrative fee. The benefit is referred to as COBRA insurance, because of the law that established it. As part of his economic stimulus package, President-elect Barack Obama is proposing to spend about $80 billion dollars to extend unemployment benefits and to subsidize health care for people who have lost their jobs.
