Do i need car insurance when travelling from the US to canada and back?

im travelling from washington state to canada next week, do i need vehicle insurance to get there and back??
im travelling from washington state to canada next week by car and at this point i dont have car insurance and likely can't afford the stupid down payment on insurance before then, but i HAVE to go to canada. are they going to check me at the border???

I'd be more worried about being able to pay for gas and the cost of jail, fines and court if you get caught. No insurance means if you hit someone and kill them, how is that family to get compensation? Everyone else pays for your non-compliance.

Dont do it, get a train or a bus.

How much per tooth for a labial veneer/ porcelain?

Hi. I live in Maryland and am looking for a good cosmetic dentist. I would like to get veneers on all of my front teeth an am looking for the best price since I have to pay with my own money (since insurance doesn't cover). I can travel to Washington, DC, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, or almost any other place on the east coast fo a good price. Can anyone give me a cost per tooth amount? Thanks.

You will most likely find that it's going to be close to the same price all over. Your traveling expense for the prep and cementation, which will be two trips, will add in considerably and quite possibly making it cost more than if you found a local dentist. They are typically close in price to a full crown, slightly higher. The usual cost to a patient per tooth, without any build up or anything other than the prep and cementation is around $800.00. By the way; "all veneers" are made of "porcelain" material, and all are placed on the "facial" or "labial" side of the teeth. Facial and labial mean or are the same, but a "veneer" itself only goes on the "one side of a tooth" being the front side. Just thought you might want to know what it is you’re planning to have placed on your teeth. I hope you’ve done some research on this, I do not recommend these at all. There is more failure rate with these than with a full coverage crown. The full porcelain crowns can be made to look as realistic as your natural tooth. It may be something you might want to look into before making your final decision. Good luck and hope I’ve been of some help.

What documents are required for a student visa to France at the consulate in Washington D.C.?

I will be traveling to France on an extended student visa. Since the French government now requires this process through their Campus France website, I already registered with them and have been approved to get a visa. I have made an appointment at the consulate general in Washington D.C. and I am wondering if anyone knows what paperwork they ask of you when you go in person. For example, I know that documented approval from Campus France as well as a passport are mandatory. I also know that they will ask for other things such as proof of enrollment in a university and proof of health insurance... what else will they ask of me? Please answer only if you have recently received a Student Visa to France. Thank you in advance!

What documentation do I need to get a visa?

A Passport

The passport must be valid for the entire period of validity of the visa.

Proof of enrollment

The following documents will be accepted as proof:

An offer of preliminary admission
A statement of pre-registration in a public or private institution of higher education. The document must specify the level of study and the student's subject. If the institution is private, the statement must indicate the number of course hours and state that registration fees have been been paid in full.

Proof of financial resources

Each French embassy sets the level of financial resources to be demonstrated by prospective students from that country. The amount is on the order of 3,000 francs for each month to be spent in France.

Students receiving scholarship grants must produce a statement indicating the amount and duration of their grant on the letterhead of the granting organization.
If the required resources are guaranteed by an individual residing in France the student must produce a signed statement of financial responsibility, a photocopy of the national identity card of the guarantor, and proof of the guarantor's own financial resources (such as the guarantor's three most recent pay stubs and most recent tax return).
If the resources come from abroad, the student must demonstrate that a bank account has been opened into which the necessary funds will be deposited and produce a promise of payment, translated into French and bearing the authenticated signature of the individual responsible for making the payments, or a statement of payment of funds from the authorities of the student's country of origin.

Proof of insurance coverage

Proof of insurance must be provided by students over 28 who are nationals of a country that does not have a reciprocity agreement with France or who are enrolled in an institution that is not recognized by the French government to participate in the student health insurance plan.

Parental authorization

Minors (individuals under 18 years of age) must furnish proof of consent by the person or persons having parental authority.

Required vaccinations

In some cases, the consulate may require proof of vaccination (e.g., against yellow fever, cholera…) before a visa will be issued.

Samantha goes to Washington - Danvers Herald

Samantha Bates, Danvers High School graduate, Class of 2008, and a freshman at Bridgewater State College, is one of the outstanding university students nationwide to be invited to Washington, and the Presidential Inauguration. And she’s thrilled.

“I’m very excited, and so is my mother for me,” says Bates, adding, with a laugh, “My Dad (School Committee chairman Bill Bates) is jealous.”

Then again, who wouldn’t be excited with a chance to rub elbows with the rich and famous at the Inauguration, hobnob with some of the political pundits in Washington, D.C., and attend an Inaugural Ball at the Hirshhorn Museum’s Sculpture Garden Library?

“I was eligible because I did the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine in the summer of 2007,” says the 2008 graduate of Danvers High School. “I had a choice of cities and I chose Boston. I spent 10 days at Babson. It was wonderful.”

Although alumni of these forums have been invited to attend the Inaugural Conference, which comes once every four years, some will opt out for financial reasons, Bates says.
