Home Business & Insurance?

I am staring a business which is based at my home address. (This is in West Virginia) This business does not require that customers come to my house and actually all "business" will be conducted elsewhere. I just resgistered it at my home address because a physical address was required for me to register the business.

Problem: I didn't think about this until now... My homeowners' insurance is marked "residential." Insurance designated as "commercial" costs about 3x as much.

Question: Because this is my place of residence, am I still required to change my insurance policy because I am running a business out of my house as well? Also, does it matter that the business will be conducted elswhere, but is just registered to my residential address.

I was just wondering what people with internet-based businesses do about their home-owners insurance. I imagine thaey don't even tell the insurance company that they have the business. Is that fraud?

Home insurance covers lots of different things. I'm not familiar with the West Virginia laws and regulations, so I suggest you contact a local home insurance agent. http://www.usinsuranceadvisor.com/Home-Insurance.html They will be able to assist you.

Between the states of Ohio and West Virginia according to the different taxes which state is cheaper to live?

Real Estate taxes, home utilities, car insurance, etc....

I no longer live there, but I lived in Morgantown, WV while I was in college. Everything is cheap in West Virginia, at least all of the stuff that a college kid is interested in (booze, smokes, etc. haha). In all seriousness, sales tax is definitely cheaper in WV, I believe it's 6% and OH is like 7-8%. Heck a car inspection in WV is like 8 bucks or something like that. I can't say for sure about utilities, rent, everything like that because I never lived in Ohio but I managed to live just fine on a $9/hr job that I worked like 30 hrs a week in WV.

Starcher goes out with a dissenting bang - West Virginia Record

CHARLESTON - To the end, the old West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals worked hard at making decisions. And former Justice Larry Starcher worked hard at disagreeing.

Starcher filed seven dissents on Dec. 30, the last day of his 12-year term, all celebrating his conviction that judges should keep rewriting laws.

"I have dedicated my career to tailoring the law to an ever growing, ever advancing society," he declared in one of his dissents.

His dedication took him where few dared to follow. No one joined his dissents.

In one dissent, he argued that a lawyer has the right to pursue the same suit in state and federal courts.

In another, he argued that an employer with workers compensation insurance should lose immunity from negligence suits when immunity produces a cruel result.

In another, he argued that a patient who cancelled exploratory surgery can sue a doctor for failing to diagnose his problem.

In another, he argued that a driver
