Travel Insurance to Warning Free Greece
By Mary BushEurope is the new desirable destination for personal, business and student travel. When traveling, for variable reasons, one must focus on the most important aspect of any voyage: insurance. This may be a thought pushed to the side as other preparations take precedence, such as exact location, travel details, packing - what to take and what not to take, etc. However, once in the area

HELP!! Second home insurance problem. Primary is in Florida...second is in Idaho--where to go for insurance?
Apr 06, 2007 by araujojessica9 | Posted in Insurance
I'm told by the company who covers my primary here in Florida that I need someone in Idaho to issue this policy...and I'm told my the person in Idaho that I need to have someone here in Florida issue the policy....can someone PLEASE help me.
It was an Allstate agent in Idaho that told me she couldn't issue a policy for me.
Nope, Allstate isn't going to write a secondary home without writing the primary insurance on it. State Farm won't, either, neither will Farmers or Nationwide. Sure, these companies are "national", but the STANDARD for writing a primary home, is to write the secondary home - as I'm sure you're finding out. And whoever writes whichever policy, needs to be licensed in that state.
I wrote to you seperately - but it's highly unlikely that a FL agent will have an IA license. AND, it's highly unlikely that an IA agent will have a market willing to write a FL home.
SO. You're going to have to ask your real estate agent - or friend, for a referral to an INDEPENDENT AGENT who can put that secondary home in a high risk market. It's automatically high risk, because it's a secondary home without the primary insured with the company.
There is a SLIGHT CHANCE, that, depending on who your FL house is insured with, you can call that company, ask for an agent who represents them in IA, and BEG them to please write your secondary as a special favor to you. THEN BRING THEM DONUTS EVERY TIME YOU'RE IN IA.
Besides that, you could also go to www.foremost.com, and get a policy through them. It's going to be more expensive, but at least you can get it done.
Good luck!

It might be time to think about flood insurance - TheNewsTribune.com
10.01.09
Hello, Noah? Thanks for the heads-up. And although it’s not possible to buy a retroactive flood insurance policy, there’s still time to insure against the next set of raging rivers, melting snowpacks and psalm-worthy rainstorms. Just ask an agent. “We do write quite a few flood policies. We’ve had several inquiries. They’re saying they don’t have it, but they’d like to buy it,” Becky Wingstrand, office manager at AE Long Insurance in Puyallup, said Friday. Her office, like many in the region, offers flood insurance both for homeowners and businesses. The policies are ultimately underwritten by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Policies are offered at prices that depend on the location of the risk, whether in a recognized flood-prone area or somewhere less susceptible to flooding. FEMA requires a 30-day waiting period before a policy goes into effect. The average cost for a homeowner, Wingstrand said, is $350 per year.
