Does New York Life Insurance make its agents bug all your friends/family for life insurance?
Jan 04, 2009 by jk | Posted in Insurance
I have interviewed with New York Life, I really like the partner with whom I would be working for but he never gives me a straight answer on how we get leads, or where our clients come from. He gave me a notebook to fill out the names and phone numbers of all my friends to bring back for my 3rd interview. Any help would be appreciated.
how else do you find leads, can you do direct mailings? does that work?
You are getting the answer. Yes, they will expect you to bug your neighbors family and friends for insurance. 1 in 100 life insurance agents make it 5 years.
I had so much family already in the business that it was not likely for me to get sales from them. I prospected people who bought or refinanced homes (mortgage life insurance,) new parents and newly weds. This was in the old days when you could cold call without having to worry about the do not call registry.
Small business owners need life insurance too, you can pretty much go door to door looking for them. People who get insurance bennies at work are tougher (although they can be taken away, or their job can go.)
Good Luck!

New York Life Insurance,I have received a job offer from them can anybody tell me a little about there company?
Nov 26, 2008 by The Guy! | Posted in Insurance
It sounds as if there is a little buy in to be employed there and with the economy as it is I can't afford to take many chances and also on the economy I am worried about the amount of insurance people will be buying.Any help or advice will be appreciated.By the way the opportunity does not involve me moving it is located in a metropolitan area in TN.
You will be selling overpriced life insurance to people and you will make big money from it. If you have no heart, then take the job. If you do, find a company that really care about their client's money. They are a reputable company, but their products is overpriced.
