Universal health care was the dominant theme during a public forum held this morning to gather recommendations for improving health care in the United States.
The event was sponsored by the University of Louisville , U of L Health Care, Passport Health Plans and Save the Children.
Attendees of the forum, held at the Brown & Williamson Club at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, offered suggestions and grievances regarding the quality, access and affordability of health care in the United States.
Comments made at the event, along with those taken from a survey completed by event participants, will be compiled and sent to the transition team for President-elect Barack Obama and Vice President-elect Joe Biden.
Various health care providers and professionals spoke during the forum, along with members of the general public.
Single-payer system praised
Some audience members cited administrative hurdles and limited reimbursements for some medical services as barriers to adequate care.
