What is a good affordable maternity health insurance in Kansas?

My husband just switched jobs and the health ins. provider is too expensive for us to carry. I plan on getting my children on healthwave but I need something for myself. I'm not currently pregnant but am wanting to start trying. I figure I should check into ins. before I make that commitment.

Try checking out Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Kansas. I had that for awhile when my job didn't offer decent insurance. I got basic coverage for around $120/month. I wasn't pregnant at the time though. If I remember right, it may have gone up a few hundred dollars. I know now that BCBS has new plans. Contact them or go online to check out their options.. Most doctors in the state honor BCBS and they're a reliable company. They'll also cover your preventative screenings such as your pap. Good luck.

Where can I purchase reasonably priced health insurance in the Kansas City area?

I have been unemployed for over a year and without ANY health insurance. Now I find out that the job I may take DOES NOT offer health insurance! Where can I find some reasonably priced? I am so frightened to continue to be without!

There is no such animal. However there are companies that are "cheaper" The thing you need to remember is cheaper in NOT nessisarily better. My advice to you is go to your local blue cross blushield agent and see what kind of deal they can work you.

I don't make much money and my job at a non-profit organization doesn't offer health insurance. I'm looking for an organization that will offer bare-bones health coverage in case of a major medical issue (I'm pretty healthy; just worried if something big happens to me some day). My budget can handle maybe $60-$70 per month. Blue Cross/Blue Shield is too spendy...any other options?

you can try humana i think they are nation wide i have me and my 2 kids on it and i only pay 120 a month and i am pregnant with my 3rd baby and the insurance covers all but 20%.

Jan. 8 (Bloomberg) -- President-elect Barack Obama’s plan to have new government health insurance compete with private coverage drew Republican fire at a nomination hearing for Thomas A. Daschle to run the Health and Human Services Department.

“Any new insurance coverage must be delivered through private insurance plans,” said Senator Michael B. Enzi , Republican of Wyoming and his party’s ranking member on the Health committee, in prepared comments for the hearing, the panel’s first session of the year.

Enzi was taking on a proposal by Obama to help reduce the number of uninsured by making available a version of Medicare, the government insurance for the elderly. Daschle preached the need for consensus in his remarks, telling lawmakers he was “determined to work with each of you” to change a system that costs $2.6 trillion a year and leaves 45 million people without health insurance.

“We need input and involvement and engagement,” Daschle told Enzi in response to a question about moving health-care changes through Congress. Daschle didn’t offer specifics of the Obama plan, or argue for its passage.
