How do I apply for a maryland health insurance license?

You will need to contact the Maryland Department of Insurance or visit their website to obtain application materials but the process is straightforward..

#1 Attend Pre-Licensing Education
#2 Successfully pass the State licensing examination for the line(s) of insurance you want.
#3 Complete the application with the appropriate fee
#4 Find a carrier to sell for

Note: Section 1033 of the federal Violent Crime Control Act prohibits insurers from hiring persons with a felony conviction unless a waiver is granted by the Department of Insurance. I'm just saying.

Any Health insurance agents out there in Maryland?

Let me start by telling you that my wife and I are currently covered with Carefirst Bluechoice. We are 28 years of age. I purchased this health insurance due to not having any benefits through my employer. We pay $376 mthly and I also have a pre-existing condition (narcolepsy) in which I take medication for. (generic adderall)... However, Im not to happy with the premium, is there any other type of coverage out there that would give me a lower premium and possibly a low deductible.. I know its either or but I would prefer the lower premium if any. Any suggestions or helpful advice would be much appreciated!

Well actually you can have it both way, low
cost and low premium: combine a higher deductible
insurance of the type you have now with My Simple Card
for the first dollar coverage. You will get similar coverage
(what is your deductible now btw?) for about $100-$150 less
premium per month. You save to $2,000 a year.

Jan. 8 (Bloomberg) -- President-elect Barack Obama’s plan to have new government health insurance compete with private coverage drew Republican fire at a nomination hearing for Thomas A. Daschle to run the Health and Human Services Department.

“Any new insurance coverage must be delivered through private insurance plans,” said Senator Michael B. Enzi , Republican of Wyoming and his party’s ranking member on the Health committee, in prepared comments for the hearing, the panel’s first session of the year.

Enzi was taking on a proposal by Obama to help reduce the number of uninsured by making available a version of Medicare, the government insurance for the elderly. Daschle preached the need for consensus in his remarks, telling lawmakers he was “determined to work with each of you” to change a system that costs $2.6 trillion a year and leaves 45 million people without health insurance.

“We need input and involvement and engagement,” Daschle told Enzi in response to a question about moving health-care changes through Congress. Daschle didn’t offer specifics of the Obama plan, or argue for its passage.
