Driver's License and Health Insurance questions?

Well it happened I am out of colllege, no longer a full-time student. However my name is still on my parent's health insurance. It states that I have to be a full time student. Does this mean it is void? Do I need to get my own health insurance now? What about Car/life/homeowner's? Where would I even start? I am 22, if that affects anything.

Also I have a driver's license from a different state (Mississippi) than the one I currently live in (Missouri). Now that I am not a full-time student do I need to get a new driver's license from the state that I do live in (Missouri)? My license says that it is valid until 2011, but I don't live in that state (Mississippi) anymore...? I don't want a new license but I do live permamently in Missouri now. What do I do?
I currently work in Missouri. The car is registered in Mississippi, under my father's name, and he resides in MS.

You health insurance is not valid anymore, since you are not a full time student. You will need to secure health insurance by yourself, possibly through your employer, rates will be much lower if your employer has a health insurance plan established. As for the car insurance, since the car is registered to your dad, and you do not reside with him, insurance would be covered, as long as you are listed as the part time driver, however, since you have established residency in Missouri now, you are required to get a Missouri driver license. If you fail to do that, and law enforcement is aware of your residency, you will be ticketed. Since you have possession of the car, you also should be listed as the primary driver, and since you are not a registered owner of the car, this can cause you problems. You would be better off having your dad release interest in the car, and transferring your title/reg to Missouri. This way, you will carry insurance in your name, using the Missouri driver license, since technically, your Miss. license is invalid, since you have established residency. You likely would get a warning to get a Mo license, but if the officer pulled you over again, you would get a ticket, and the car could get impounded. So, to sum it all up, get your Mo license, transfer the car title/reg into your name and get Mo licensing on the car.

Divorce, health insurance, and contempt...?

My fiance's ex-wife was told when she moved their child out of state that she was required to put him on Mississippi's state health care plan and was reassured by both her lawyer and my fiance's that she would be accepted because of her low income. This requirement was unfortunately not put into the divorce papers but the "just in case" motion was. The "just in case" motion was that if she SOMEHOW got denied state, my fiance would send a certain amount to cover a more expensive plan. His ex-wife has refused to file state coverage and expects my fiance to pay all of their son's un-insured medical bills. My question is, who is in contempt if my fiance has repeatedly told her he cannot afford those bills and constantly sends her the application for state coverage? Is he in contempt for not being able to pay them or is she for not initiating coverage?

Their divorce decree should state who is responsible for maintaining health care for the child.

Are there any low cost CHILD only health insurance programs?

Here is my situation, my wife and I have a 19 month old daughter who was born with a cleft lip & palate, she's had two facial surgeries already and ofcourse will need more surgeries and health care. Our "cleft team" is located in New Orleans and we live in southern Mississippi. My job although pays pretty good they don't offer health insurance, my wife was laid off at her job because of the slow economy and she was our primary source for health insurance. I don't have the option to change jobs myself and with my wife not working we can't afford child care..So we were thinking of Medicaide but our "cleft team" doesn't accept Medicaide. They only accept CHIPS, what if we get approved for Medicaide? You can only apply for CHIPS if you are denied for MEDICAIDE. Im so stressed out right now because Health insurance is so expensive. The lady at the Childrens hospital says our only alternative is to have her surgeries in a state hospital in MS. Not an option! I want the best for her.Help.

You should post on www.cleftadvocate.org They have some terrific parents of children with clefts that have been through the same thing you have..There is also a financial help page that gives sources for help..Have you tried Shriners? They do help with traveling expenses as well..I'd contact Debbie Oliver through cleftadvocate though..She's been through it, runs the site, and knows TONS about insurance..Good luck to you! I know you'll find what you're looking for!

Three Roadblocks on the Road to Health Reform - American Enterprise Institute

In fact, many health policy analysts point out that Medicare and Medicaid adopted the basic payment policies of private insurance, thereby making overall reform even more difficult. As we have seen time and again, making a lot of noise about health reform does not guarantee change.

What do we want from reform, and what will it take to get us there? To answer this question and see why reform is so difficult, let us look at the three largest components of our health care system--private health insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid--and look at how they work. Each of these major sectors of our health care system creates a roadblock to reform. Each is an open-ended system of payment that encourages everyone involved--consumers and providers--to use more resources than they would in a more normal, less-insured market.

First Roadblock: Private Health Insurance

In 2007, private health insurance and direct payments by individuals accounted for 46 percent ($1.04 trillion) of total health expenditures ($2.3 trillion). The modern form of private health insurance began in the 1930s, but the industry's major growth occurred after World War II. The percentage of those with hospital coverage increased from 10 percent (12.3 million) in 1940 to almost 90 percent (178 million) by 1975.
