Is there a health insurance plan for people recieving unemployed in new jersey?

In late december i was layed off from my job. I have been recieving unemployment benifits on a bi-weekly basis since then. Just recenlty I felt a "lump." I need to have it checked out but i can't even afford to see a regular doctor in New Jersey. The cheapest health insurance i can find is either $160/ mo with a $5,000 deductiable or $275/ mo with no deductiable. And yes, these plans are the bare minimum plans. Does anyone have any suggestions?!?

The State of NJ Department of Health and Senior Services has something called Centers for Primary Care. You can go to a location and obtain health services for a nominal fee, even if you do not have private health insurance. I included the link below for your review. Good luck.

new jersey health insurance?

i have no health insurance because i'm 19 and not in school so my parents can't cover it. i need to go to the doctor but it's gonna cost me like 80 bucks. i have a part time job making 8/hr, and i have to wait 2 more months to be eligible for their coverage, which is too long to wait, and it'll cost half of what i make a month... maybe more. are there any plans out there for me? that are cheap? and have a low co-pay? *crosses fingers*

If you need medical care, you need to get it. What you can do is speak to the doctor's office BEFORE you see the doctor, tell them you're a self-pay patient, and ask them for a discount and a payment plan.

My office will give a 20% discount on fees for self-paying patients as long as they pay something ($5 ot $10) at the time of the visit and make regular payments. If they don't pay anything at the time of the visit, they lose the discount and get a fee tacked on - UNLESS arrangements are made IN ADVANCE. They also lose the discount if they don't make payments within 90 days. See if your doctor's office will make the same agreement, because if you put it off, it might be worse.

You will need at least 2 full time employees to get it through the business. Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield has decent rates. Check out the EPO Basic and EPO Plus. Aetna has good prices except there network is very poor in the southern part of the state.

Employees Need Health Insurance, Not Cash - The Star-Ledger - NJ.com

When my father started his career in the 1960s, it was generally assumed he would have health benefits funded by his employer for the remainder of his life. But now, as he heads toward retirement, those benefits have all but disappeared, with health care one of his largest monthly expenses.

This situation is not unique to my father. As business owners have become saddled with double-digit increases each year for the cost of health insurance, workers are seeing diminished policies, higher co-pays, and higher cost-shares with employers. Today, many small businesses simply can't afford to provide the same level of health benefits they used to - if they can afford to provide them at all.

The entitlement once given my father has gone the way of the $1 cup of coffee.

I've seen how large corporations are now hiring people for the maximum number of part-time hours - just to avoid the expense of offering health insurance. And there is an alarming trend now surfacing that I believe has truly crossed the line. It is an issue of paramount concern to the New Jersey Association of Health Underwriters, of which I am affiliated.
