Car Insurance Cancellation Iowa IA
Reader’s Question:
I’m from Iowa and I recently bought my first car, and insurance for it. Will my car insurance company cancel my coverage if I get involved in an accident within a month?

Car insurance coverage was designed to protect the vehicle and its passengers from the potential risk of costly expenses for repairs and medical care resulting from unfortunate accidents. Although all states, including Iowa, manage car insurance companies up to a certain extent to protect policyholders, car insurance companies have the prerogative to cancel the coverage of a policyholder at any time within the two months from date of purchase without having to provide any reason for cancellation.
Situations that can merit cancellation can be delinquency or nonpayment of a policyholder’s premium. Car insurance companies can also revoke a customer’s coverage if there was material misrepresentation made by an individual or his representative in acquiring car insurance. Immediate termination is also done if a car insurance company discovers a fraudulent claim under a policy. An insurer may elect revocation of coverage if a policyholder has been involved in a number of accidents regardless of who was responsible for them. They may also cancel a customer’s policy if he or she had received various traffic citations.
For the situations stated, a car insurance company’s cancellation of policy would not be considered in effect until at least a period of ten days after the company sends out the notice. A local agent may call with the information of cancellation. They may also mail or deliver a notice of policy cancellation.

If I move from Iowa to Minnesota for 1 year, when or do I have to buy new car insurance (cheaper in Iowa)?

The car is registered under my parents who still live in Iowa, but will primarily be driving in MN, I don't know if that changes anything. Also, would I have to change my license plate as well (parents still live in Iowa)?

Moved out of state, Can I still be on my parent's car insurance?

I just graduated college and moved to California. I bought a new car in Iowa before I left and my parents cosigned the loan. We registered the car in Iowa, saying my name first "or" my father. Since then, they have brought the car out here. Am I able to stay on my parents insurance (Farm Bureau) even though I am no longer a resident of Iowa or their house? Also, am I required to register the vehicle in California even though he is on the loan and the current provider of insurance?
no you have to have an adress in the state in which your car is insured the only other option is maybe going to whatever co. your parents have ins. where you are living and talk to the agent there he might be able to pull some strings and keep you on your parents insurance good luck!!

Is it illegal in Iowa for a car dealership to give you a car(purchace, rent) without a licence?

I got this car from a dealership that let me leave off their lot with a car( I am making payments)and I didn't have a driver's licence. I just got my plates in after 3 months and they haven't fixed any repairs on the car that is suppost to be done. My warrenty on the car is up in 1 week. I was going to take them to court because of this reason but I am not sure if I have a case. Considering that I got the car without having a licence and have to get full coverage insurance on the car is there anything I can do to get my depoist back. I don't even want to deal with them considering they lied to me and I had to get the police involved just to get my plates! It has been 80 days since I got my plates and once I got the police invloved they got it the next day! I also see they are charging me mor eon the car then in the contract states. What should I do?
take the damn car back to the dealer if you think that it is illegal it might be illegal you have to have a licence to even have a car so why you have a car i dont know but you should give it bak and get your money back before you get in trouble not him trust your instincts
