What is the best and cheapest car insurance for a 20yr, female living in Michigan?

My dad is making me pay my car insurance and i dont kow where to start. I heard about something called PLPD, what is that and is it expensive? what are some other cheap places for car insurance in Michigan. Thanks!!

Look at the insurance company statement and you will see that as a member of household you are getting multi-car and home insurance (if your parents have home insured with same company). May be even more discounts.

Stay on parents insurance - just pay your part of the premium. That way you will pay less compare to ANY insurance company where you buy that insurance on your own.

PIP is mandatory in Michigan, so medical bills are covered in any case of an accident. My insurance company is trying to tell me there is a $300 deductible for this. Is there even an option for a deductible?

Yes, there is such a thing as a PIP deductible, and it is an option. It saves you money, so a lot of people will take the deductible when they buy the policy, just to save $30 or so on the insurance.

varies by company.

Some companies have website quotes. Just guessing, try Progressive, AIG, etc. State Farm does not have online quotes, I think.

It can be worth the effort to take a look at your home and auto insurance to see if there are ways you can save money.

One of the easiest things policyholders can do is ask if they are receiving all of the discounts they qualify for.

"Most of the carriers will give a multi policy discount," said Pete Suminski, insurance agent with Blick Dillon Insurance in Cadillac.

If your home and auto policies are with two different insurers, it may be worthwhile to explore bringing them both under the same company to receive the multi policy discount.
