If you borrow someones car, and they give you permission to drive it, you are covered by their insurance unless you are underage, as some policies don't cover anyone under 25. That is assuming you only borrow the car infrequently. If you borrow it a lot, you should be listed on the policy as a secondary driver. I live in Massachusetts. You can sue the driver's insurance company and be paid in full usually without having to go to court. I believe it's 20 or 40K per passenger for minimum coverage. The lawsuit would take place in RI because that's where the driver is insured. It doesn't matter where you live or if you're insured.
