Anyone in Miami, Florida have preferred medical insurance?
I am looking for affordable heath care for myself and children and was offered health insurance named preferred medical insurance. Is it any good? Is their any other affordable insurances out there in south Miami Florida?
They are rated C++ (marginal) by A M Best. This is one of the lowest ratings I've seen for an insurance company. This means they may have problems paying on any claims so my opinion would be to look elsewhere.
You'll want to visit a local independent agent. This person knows the market in your area and can find a plan to fit your situation and they don't charge anything for the service.
Be very wary of medical discount plans. These plans are not regulated by the state and the people who sell them do not need to be licensed. This means you have little recourse when you have problems with the plan. If you are tempted by these plans get a list of doctors first (if they won't give one consider it a scam). Call the doctors to make sure they're still taking the plan and they're accepting new patients. Here is an informative link about one plan. http://www.insurancejournal.com/news/west/2006/11/22/74554.htm
