can i switch over car insurance to new car/ Montana to Wisconsin?

I had insurance for my old car when i was living in Montana, liability coverage or whatever is the cheapest. I got rid of my old car, moved to Wisconsin and bought a new (used) car. Can i switch my insurance over to the new car i bought? I got my insurance through AAA> Any advice would be helpful>thanks

No.
You would need to reapply for new insurance in WI for your new car. Even if you still had the previous car you would have had to get a new Wisconsin policy on it once the MT policy expired at the latest. Simply contact a local agent to see about getting a policy (through AAA if you liked them) or shop around for a good price in your new address.

so, it`s not illegal if you don't have any kind of car insurance?

FALSE!!! if run into someone who will be liable and damages? no insurance is illegal in all 50 states.

I've heard that car insurance is required in Wisconsin unless you can show financial responsibility. Is there some type of application for this? The reason I ask is insurance is such a scam as far as comprehensive is concerned. I would buy liability but was just wondering what everybody knew on this subject.

I gotta disagree - it is not required in the state of Wisconsin. Meaning, your vehicle is registered there and you are driving there. You take that vehicle to another state and you better be insured. That is why officers do not ask for proof when they stop you there. However....you hit me and are uninsured and i'm gonna sue your ass.

Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker has refused to provide such a list for his county, as he contends it would result in additional government spending.

Holloway said today he will bypass Walker and provide a list for Milwaukee County.

In a statement, Holloway said, "In the absence of leadership from the County Executive, I am stepping forward on behalf of the residents of Milwaukee County. By Thursday of next week, I will submit a list of capital and infrastructure improvements for consideration as part of the federal stimulus package. Governor Jim Doyle is working with the federal government on the Wisconsin’s economic stimulus projects, and I am working with him to ensure that Milwaukee County submits a list of projects to stimulate our local economy. This is a bigger issue than just Scott Walker. This is an attempt by the incoming Presidential administration to get our entire nation moving again. I do not want to see 71 other counties in Wisconsin and 49 other states receive stimulus funding while Milwaukee County is left behind."
